| I'm a twenty year old artist, currently attending the University of the Fraser Valley, in BC, Canada. My main loves in life are photography, good food, and socialising. I'm pictured above with the love of my life -- a 1976 Datsun 280z. Her name is Aiden, and she's like my second half. Sure she breaks down a lot, makes funny noises, and always pulls to the right, but nothing can change my love for her. I always wanted a Fairlady Z. I first fell in love with an '81 280zx, painted baby blue, posted for sale on Craigslist. The bank wouldn't give me a loan, and I lost that chance. I spent a few years dreaming about one day having my girl. I find the entire vehicle a work of art. It all happened in a rush after I got a call about her sitting on the side of the road with a for sale sign. It was complicated but... That's a story for another time. Expect to see her as the subject of most of my art from here on in, though. Like I mentioned, I attend the local university. I'm currently enrolled in the General Studies program, but I'm hoping to make it into the Graphic Design program when they open it (hopefully this fall). I also volunteer my time to help run the University of the Fraser Valley Car Club -- aka UFVCC. From our webpage: “The University of the Fraser Valley Car Club is an organisation directed at all car lovers. We aim to bring together drivers, mechanics, and enthusiasts to learn from each other and have a good time. From participating in safe sanctioned track events, to attending car shows, to going out for cruise nights, or for simply changing your oil: we're here for each other.”You can view our current webpage here. I've been taking photographs ever since I can remember. I still have the very first photo I ever took -- of a Kleenex box on the dashboard of my parent's truck with a toy camera from McDonalds (don't ask). Not the most awe-inspiring photo you can imagine, but I took it all by myself when I was just four years old. Since then, my tools have changed. I used an "APS" point-and-shoot camera for awhile, before going through a slew of malfunctioning Sony digital cameras. When I got to high school, I picked up an old Pentax K1000. I never turned back. As far as digital art goes, I mainly stick to web design & building. It's mostly for my personal projects, though I have been commissioned to create webpages for sites before. I dabble in pixel art and other projects when I have the time. Over the years, I've gained extensive knowledge in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Terragen, with basic knowledge in the rest of Adobe's Creative Suite programs. If you're a Z owner, a photographer, or whatever, drop me a line. I'd love to chat, Dee Mikela (aka djinni--, zuperhero) |
